2021 Grimme GH Series 4

4-row, row widths from 75 to 91.4 cm, mechanical weed control

The GH 4 is a 4-row ridging hiller for small to medium areas and is suitable for crops cultivated in ridges at a row width of 75 to 91.4 cm (30 to 36 inch). Thanks to its light and compact design, the GH 4 requires very little lifting power and is perfect to use with small to medium-sized tractors from 70 hp upwards. GRIMME GH ridging hillers enable the build up of large volume ridges for the cultivation of potatoes and vegetable on light soils. Compared to rotary hillers, the ridging hillers use a passive-shaping soil cultivation method. This helps to reduce tractor power requirements and enables higher coverage across the field. Depending on the soil type, a range of height-adjustable loosening tines can be used to loosen the soil. For optimum care of the ridges, the machine can be adapted to individual soil conditions with a wide range of options. Single row shaper allow easy running between the rows, even in bigger plants until canopy establishment. Crops, which are grown in ridges, such as carrots or potatoes, tolerate only little competition from weeds until complete canopy establishment. For this reason, effective and accurate weed control is necessary to achieve a good yield. For growers of potatoes and vegetables, who want to destroy weeds without chemicals and build ridges simultaneously, a GH Eco Ridging hiller with integrated chopping technology is the perfect choice.

Suitable for various soil conditions

Various tine versions for different requirements.

Careful handling

Single row shapers are suitable to be used in potatoes after emerging up to a vegetation stage shortly before canopy establishment.

Simple forming

Soil loosening tines in front of the shaping board.

Protection against erosion by use of dykers

The dyker creates small transverse ridges between the ridges. The dykes reduce the risk of erosion and at the same time promote water absorption.

Mechanical weed control

Weeds which are growing on the ridge flanks, are undercut, then removed from the ridges and finally eradicated. This prevents the weeds from growing again as much as possible.

Features may include:

  • The double toolbar consists of a robust welded frame, therefore flexible to fit all required tines or ridging bodies
  • Spring mounted discs for wet conditions
  • Various tines for varying conditions
  • Flexible use for (pre-) ridging, before planting (autumn, early spring), up to ridging in potatoes which have already been emerged.
  • GH Eco: Hoeing and hilling of the ridges in a single pass - for weed control in emerged crop. A guided knife element undercuts weeds directly on the ridge side.
  • Fixed ridging bodies for stone free grounds
  • Spring mounted ridging bodies for stony soils
  • A shaping board can be used for building ridges with specific characteristics from loose to firm soil with a smooth surface.
  • For an improved water absorption on light soils, cage rollers can be used in combination with fix or spring-loaded ridging bodies. The cage rollers provide a light, airy ridge with an open-pored surface.
